My Mood: makeup, hair, etc?

Default makeup, hair, etc?

As I get older I have decided I want to care more about such things. My daughter is 9 and I know pretty soon she will want to do this sort of stuff because she's much more girly than I ever was.

I have no freaking clue where to start. The last time I wore makeup was 20 years ago so I need to learn the modern way.

Give me any advice or tips you've got ladies

I am almost 50 and haven't worn makeup, painted my nails, etc since high school. I am very low maintenance. Now that I'm single again (after a 20 yr marriage) I'm wondering if I need to invest in doing these things again OR is it just not me.

I don't think there's anything wrong with keeping it simple. If this is about setting an example for your daughter, then maybe the importance of skin care, as in making sure she knows the importance in a good spf moisturizer for the very first thing that she puts on her face after washing her face?
Right now, I believe, that highlights added to foundation is the thing.
I personally keep it simple myself. Moisturizer, mascara and lipstick basically.

If you are planning to go out for the night, learning how to do a smokey eyeshadow look can be learned on YouTube.

I second the suggestion of YouTube. Also, if you are on Facebook there are some groups about make-up which you might find useful.

Most of the time you can call a Belks and make a apt. and they will show you what would look good on you, and show you how to put it on. (((((((HUGS)))))))

What's a Belks?

Youtube is an excellent source for make-up tutorials.

I highly recommend Anastasia's eyebrow pomade. An excellent product, exceptional value. About 20$ & it lasts for months.

I agree, example of good skin care is best. Wash, moisturizer, then the fun stuff. My dd was getting up in the morning & trying to do makeup.....wouldnít listen to my suggestions at all. Teenager.
So we wento Ulta beauty type store & someone sat with her & explained how to take care of her skin. What products to use & then how to apply a light makeup especially consealer. It was educational for me too. She was tickled someone was complimenting her & telling her she didnít need much!
So she has kept up with taking care of her face especially with breakouts. She also wears stage makeup for theatre & she has some good product to get it off properly.

I think she felt empowered by it which thrilled me. I learned about makeup on the back of the school bus watching other girls. Weíve used YouTube also especially applying the right techniques for her eye shape. She has hooded eyes & knowing your eye shape makes a difference how to apply eye shadow too. Ummmm I didnít know this till a few yrs ago.....& I didnít know how to tight line either so I learn something new every day!
