Default Is my somatization disorder gone?

I had a lot of somatic symptoms for many years. I was constantly going to the doctor and having test after test done only to find out nothing was wrong. It was frustrating and I wanted something to be wrong so badly.

Then I lost 70 pounds, and went from 236 to 165. I've never felt better in my life, and most of my physical symptoms disappeared.

Was I just having various aches and pains because I was so overweight? Could my body just not handle being so big?

I don't want to get sick anymore either.

only your treatment providers can say whether your somatic disorders are gone or not...

if not knowing continues to bother you maybe you can ask your treatment providers.

Fat causes inflammation, so it's possible. Only you know your body, not doctors or anyone else.

It's always a good idea to maintain a healthy weight. Enjoy life while you can. If that's working for you, why not try to maintain it? Congrats on your weight loss.

Thanks. I did have a fatty liver from the weight. Maybe that part of the problem.

It seems like now when I get stressed I actually do get physically sick. I was sick 4 times this flu season. Go figure.

Now Iíd get really nervous if something was really wrong. I donít have a secondary insurance anymore. Copays scare me. As does taking time off from work.

Were you diagnosed with somatization disorder or just felt you had it because tests didn't show anything wrong? Just because tests don't show something doesn't mean you don't feel bad! Your weight could have caused inflammation, as Rayne says and that hurts. Hurting and wanting something tangible causing the hurt is not wrong/bad.

Congratulations on your weight loss! Glad you feel so much better.

A treatment center hinted I had somatization disorder yet they never explained it to me. So I had no idea what it was or anything

But no Iíve never been officially diagnosed with it.
