Hey Twistypringle,

Congratulations on 3 months. That's super! The hardest part is over. What remains is to stay ever vigilant and not smoke a cigarette no matter what. No need to restart the nicotine addiction with vaping. It seems like that is just going to make life harder than it was, but anyway the main thing is no cigs, no way. Keep the quit!

Thanks tecomsin for the encouragement! This really is difficult, so having someone on my team is nice. I think I'm going to take the liquid back to my sis. Shouldn't have taken it from her. I was weak.

Hey Twistypringle,

Quitting smoking is literally the best thing you can do for yourself and those who care about you. It's important to not underestimate the ways the addiction can sneek back into our lives. You are doing great at 3 months. After a year or so it will get easier again but the vigilance is just part of our lives now as ex-smokers.

I'd ditch the vaping, too but not to go on and smoke a cigarette. It's not a good idea to turn the nicotine receptors back on in the brain. It is safer just to keep free of nicotine altogether.

Take care and Keep the Quit (KTQ)!
Not one puff ever (NOPE).

I ended up giving the liquid to my mom when I saw her. She doesn't smoke, but she sees my sis more than me (forgot to give it back to sis when I saw her).

Anyway, that little bit of nicotine really did turn back on the receptors. It was so stupid and impulsive. I don't know why I did that. I almost caught myself saying that I was happiest when I was smoking. I feel like that is so weak!

But no more! I'm done with that stage. Impulsivity and overspending. Dangerous situations. That is what is associated with cigs for me. That is no more.

Hey Twisty,

This is the time to be vigilant and careful that the nicodemon doesn't draw you back in to a terrible and cruel addiction. Just take it one day at a time and soon you will forget that you vaped for awhile. It is good that you stopped now, but then again the most important thing is not to smoke a cigarette. it is the lie of the addict to say you were only happy when smoking. Just shut that bs down. it isn't true. You were happy before you ever started smoking and will be one day again.

I was tempted into smoking and I did. I bought some packs, but I've learned my lesson. I got SO irritable and had several panic attacks. At first I thought I could hide it from everybody and just smoke one, but then I told my mom. I literally and emotionally felt like crap. Not only did I ruin 5 months, but I spent about $150 on them. I could have saved that money or just done things with it.

I feel like such a lousy person.

Hey Twisty,

I'm sorry to read that you threw away your quit. It is something that I did many times before I made it to my lifetime sticky quit. One thing that made the difference for me was to participate on an active quit smoking forum. the one I participated on went belly up but there is another active forum at quittrain.com

which you might want to check out and start participating in the daily NOPE pledge (not one puff ever).

quitting is tough but doable. Just dust yourself off and get back on the wagon. Accept that you are an addict and that there is no such thing as just one puff or just one cigarette. That is a lie of the addiction. You are an addict not a lousy person.
