Default Hyperarousal, can't sleep, can't stop ruminating.

Need sleep-not getting it.

So I had a special holistic concoction (all healthy) and I'm lying here knowing the screen is bad sleep hygiene.

And I do it anyway. I should know better, I guess.

Thanks for hugs. I wish that I really had one happening right now. One of those good ones that just tells you it's real caring. Maybe I'll dream about it. Sweet dreams to you.

There is a program and an app to put on your iPad or somputer, I think it works for phones too. I can't remember the name of it at the moment but I'll try to get it too you. It changes the color scheme at a certain time of night that you select. It eliminates the bright white blues that keep you awake. I have found it helpful for when I'm in bed yet don't want to be activated by a screen.

f.lux is what i have on my computer which i program as to when it should turn on and turn off automatically.

Also, i purchased a $10 pair of organge blue-light blocking glasses which blocks out the blue lights which stimulate the brain from tv or iphone or ipad when using at night. I have a reminder on my phone to put these orange glasses on at 6pm daily and if i'm not out of the house at that time, i automatically put those orange glasses on til i close my eyes.

i bought my orange glasses from amazon for about $10. There's lots of info on internet about bluelight-blocking glasses. Am sure you can find them on ebay as well. Mine look like orange aviator wrap-around glasses and they filter out the tv, ipad, cell phone, computer. For me, i think they help.

Gosh.

I have a MARPAC white-noise machine (I’ve started using them in 1986) and I wear a puffy-velvet sleep mask. All from Amazon.com.

I was taking Ambien - as needed - for 8 years. Earlier this year, I began to ‘sleepwalk’ (as I have no legs, I was ‘sleep-wheelchair-walking) and doing some crazy things. Then it caused low BP and I kept falling out of bed/out of my wheelchair.

Really - I don’t recommend many things requiring ingestion. Celestial Seasonings still markets ‘Sleepy Time’ tea - chamomile. I took it with me backpacking/mountaineering 36-42 years ago. I drink it today. Purely a placebo, I know, but the smell and taste... you know.
