Default Bad dreams

So for about 10 years I stopped dreaming. I believe it was due to Ativan.. but can't be sure. I almost never had a dream period when I was using that drug to sleep.

But recently, I am making attempts to only take Ativan 1x per week or less. (though I have been weened since January). I am having dreams AND they area all bad. Up to 3 or 4 per night and a few of them wake me up.

They are always weird and don't have any pattern. Last night I dreamt my cat got sick. Then I woke up and put on the tv and feel back asleep and dreamt I got in a fight with a mentally challenged person (who takes out my trash at work) over washed clothing.

My theory is that I dream when I am not having a deep sleep. Any thoughts?

Maybe you are just getting used to this new state of dreaming (you were probably dreaming all that time, without memory of it). Wait a while to see if dreams get less nightmarish.

Dreams often mirror our feelings. Being off that drug allowed your feelings to return in your dreams.

Anxiety is a feeling.
