Personally, I love wearing lingerie. Nothing "slutty", like Frederic's of Hollywood. But... I like VS comfy underwear that shows a little peek of my lower back, or something like that. I LOVE their bras! They are comfortable, well-made, and curvy. Nothing wrong with that.

I have worn thigh high nylons a few times, but not often at all. It's for a special man at a special time, in my case. Not all men appreciate it & I'm not going to waste my nice nylons on a man who doesn't know how in the heck to take them off (or think that they look great on). Just sayin.....

I like lingerie on a woman. I also like women au naturel as well. Some women look great with no makeup while others, their appearance is enhanced by using at least some. The only downside to lingerie for me is the false look given by padded or slimming enhancements that some lingerie gives. I don't care for curves that can be placed back in a drawer. I also dare say that most women don't like their men in lingerie. Not all but most.

So, I'm just curious, how much do guys like it when their girlfriend's/wives wear lingerie for them? Obviously it'll only be on for so long, but I'm curious.
From our early years, boys are programmed to think of lingerie as “sex”. There’s probably no such thing as sexy lingerie. ALL lingerie is intended to be sexy. The extent of the sexiness is formed within our own minds as we mature. What one person thinks is sexy, another might consider clownish. Our own tastes, likes, dislikes are uniquely formed as we grow up and mature. This is true with just about everything, cars, homes, cell phones, etc. Our personal taste (and sometimes our wallets), makes a lot of our decisions and there are manufacturers trying every day to find YOUR personal taste that translates into revenue for them. So who is the ultimate target consumer of lingerie? That’s easy… men.

That’s not to say lingerie isn’t for women as well. After all, if a woman didn’t ‘feel’ sexy wearing lingerie, she wouldn’t. Her whole objective is to 1) feel sexy, and 2) to be desired by a man (which in turn makes her feel sexy. Interesting circle!).

That’s pretty much it. If a man didn’t find her sexy or desirable wearing it, she wouldn’t feel sexy and therefore wouldn’t wear it and would change to something that her significant other does like. If lingerie didn’t have this effect on men (and women), there wouldn’t be whole industries built around it to the tune of $9 billion/year – with a growth of 5.5% over the last five years. Lingerie = sex = revenue. Like the saying goes, ‘sex sells’!

Girl here. I always wanted to try it, but after this thread teaching me it looks "clownish" I don't think I will. Too bad, I always thought that stuff looks so pretty and elegant - I've had many an internal debate about whether "hanger panties" rather than the stuff from a 5-pack are worth the money.

This is easy to solve. If you are in a relationship, just ask the guy, "What would you like to see me wearing underneath this?" Some men ask without prompting, what you are wearing underneath in a way that hints at what they would like to see (lingerie or no underwear at all). That is how they flirt. It can be easy to assume that because one guy likes it, others do....

Though I probably look terrible because I am 53, my husband still likes lingerie and I still like having matching underwear--even if it is just a white bra with white underware...my natural inclination is to want to lower the lights when I am in lingerie or naked and not so much for him so I say to myself--if that's what he wants, he must be ok with how I look (and a good partner will find complement you)....And sometimes I envy women that can go about town with no bra at all. Because of my curves--when I used to run, I felt like I had to wear two bras at once---an athletic one on top of an underwire one.

I was ruminating about this after I wrote it - thinking about that one comment of a guy laughing his *** off at a girl's lingerie and practically in tears imagining it happening to me. Yet after I got offline, I was out walking, and wandered into a local junk shop. As I was looking at all the stuff I found myself thinking - with so many preferences, is it worth worrying that much? There's stuff I can't stand or think is pointless that others love, and it doesn't bother me for more than a moment.

I can't let myself slide into total nihilistic relativism - there are definitely preferences that are better than others, times when others' viewpoints are relevant. But over something like underwear...maybe it's not worth the worry. I like your idea about asking - that could be some pretty cute flirting!
