Was wondering what everyone thought about Hollywood, and other men in power, and the allegations off sexual assault?

This has been an unspoken situation in Hollywood forever. Jokes about casting directors and sleeping with someone for a part.

I am glad they are coming forward. I am sure many felt this was an insurmountable problem. And no one would care.

Ask any woman and many men, to tell a story about pushy, unwanted advances and touching. Every woman I know has faced it at one time or another.

Open dialogue if anyone, man or woman, wants to comment.

I think Woody Allen said "I hope this doesn't become a witch hunt."

I hope it does! I want front row seats. I think it parallels Silicon Valley's major issues.
But I'm not fond of this hashtag of metoo.

Thanks for answering. Everyday another person quits a show, or admits verbally and apologizes.

A lot of the women and men coming forward ,are some pretty believable people.

It is like Cosby all over again.
I hope it doesn't turn into a witch hunt. But most of the perps are admitting to it.

Why don't you want a witch hunt? Ok not a historically accurate comment used, but don't you want this culture exposed? I'd like to see it out in the open.
(Nothing to do with paganism btw)

Oh, now this has become an interesting subject as more and more people are choosing this time to come forward in a chorus line to tell tales of men (deceivers ever, Shakespeare wrote) and their grotesque and piggish ways.

As a big Tarantino fan, I was aware of Harvey Weinstein. What I still do not understand is why his friends and partners let him get away with predatory behaviour for so long. Weinstein denies the stories. Franken and Rose do not. Roy Moore denies the stories. No one cares about Trump although he reeks of bacon among the porcine crowd. And, yes, itís time to bring President Clinton back into the national discussion. And Spacey? He broke my heart.

Yeah, Iím having difficulty getting my head around Spaceyís reported lifetime of predatory behaviour. He was, one minute, amongst the finest actors of my generation and, the next minute, he has no future as an actor - and maybe that is fair and right - and I guess that I canít watch Suspects again? Or not in the same way? Does he return his Oscars? He tweets an apology, of sorts, and then a ďBTW, Iím gay,Ē as if it were a secret.

Charlie Rose? Heís toast. I havenít checked on the Franken situation, today.

I am delighted that the transgressed are coming forward but I am afraid to find out Ďwhoís next.í

Franken and the groping photo. Iím certain that it was intended to be funny. The woman is wearing a flak jacket and he does not have his hands upon the jacket, just poised for a grope. I think that it is overreaction to find that photo predatory. There is a joke there - ďmen continue loutish fascination with womenís breasts even when theyíre bulletproof.Ē

Yes, the casting couch is real, we know for certain, now. And, Christ, Iíve always known that many (other) men (none amongst my friends) were predatory beasts.

I sorta Ďgropedí once and it made me feel ill. I was 15, she 14, and we were at this weekend CYO function. Prettiest little red-headed girl with perfect white skin. We had been making out for two hours or so and had both taken liberties with one another without asking. But I, the foolish rake, put my hand down the front of her pants to feel her sex. She did this cool and enchanted move away from me, laughed, and ran to find her sister.

I felt shame. I felt stupid. Why did I think that we were ready for genital touching? I apologised and that was that. My career as a predatory groper came and went.

Thatís my comment and confession.

CYO! Wow does that bring back memories! Lol.

Should they give back their awards? Interesting question. I'd say no.
We can't go back & erase history although it seems to be a knee jerk reaction in our society to do so.

Take, for example, the huge Joe Paterno scandal at PSU. One day there was a beautiful huge statue of him, plaques, a walkway, memorial of his career. People taking pictures.
Then miraculously it's gone overnite & even the mature trees were exactly placed back into the landscape to make it look like it never existed. Must've cost a fortune!
Still, we can't erase what happened in that community.
I think we're nervous of the "who's next" aspect bec deep down we're all ashamed that this behavior is still socially acceptable.

I do feel terrible for the victims who were abused.

But with so many people coming forward and claiming to be sexually molested, I'm find it harder to believe who is lying and who is telling the truth.

How do we know some of these people are not trolls? Or that some of these people are not claiming to be molested just for attention?

It seems like with every tragedy, there are actors who pretend they are victims. So when someone pops out of nowhere and says they were a victim, I question their character.

Sorry, folks. Not everyone is as *innocent* as they seem.

You know what? Iím going with Mitch McConnell (sp?) here, ďI believe the women.Ē Roy Moore had a history of predatory practices with underaged women and everyone knew of it. WaPo did contact the first 14-year-old at-the-time victim. She wasnít a hidden secret. And as more and more women have jumped on the train itís simply telling old tales in Alabama.

Oh, and I believe the men in re Kevin Spacey.

I donít believe that false tales are being told. Not this time.

Iím okay with the #metoo hashtag. If that young red-haired girl felt violated all those years back, then she should recall my behaviour with a #metoo.

I agree it will be difficult to know who is "jumping on the bandwagon." I feel those will need to be dealt with on an individual level.
Recently read an article (ny times maybe??) about moms that we're fighting college campuses bec their sons were accused of sexual misconduct, which goes on their record, & the women in the cases were dropping charges.
Tricky area I'm sure.

So now we're talking about basic consent issues. Which I feel is not even discussed or taught to a younger generation. What is consent? What's acceptable? What's not? What can be done about it?

Basically for me, it comes down to this.
Where is the group of men or boys in any part of our history in the world, that come together & accuse women of any sexual misconduct! Being groped, handled, raped, passed over in the work force, shunned, made to feel inferior etc ANYTHING, by women!
To me, it's always lopsided.
