I do things regularly that make me wonder if I'm losin' it. Neither of my parents developed dementia. But I've struggled with a lot of depression & anxiety throughout my life. And I've read that can be a precursor to senior dementia. So I don't know. I actually have a pretty set routine for how I do things. And I find that if I step outside of that routine for some reason I get easily confused...

I'm easily confused, Skeez. It's not any fun, but I've accepted it.

I used to love driving but now it's so much harder, seems too fast. Too many cars too many signs, lights and rules. I prefer the back ways even if it takes longer cause it's slower than the highways and freeways. There's just too much info coming at me.

I don't drive anymore. I used to drive as a part of my job. And I enjoyed it. I still have a driver's license. But my wife drives wherever we go (which isn't far most of the time.) I suppose I could drive. But I just don't feel safe. I'm too easily confused. If we lived in a smaller town perhaps it would be easier. But we live in a major metropolitan area. So there's always traffic. And everybody is in a serious hurry!

Yes, I used to have routines too, good ones. But now I just sort of flop around aimlessly. It's this place, it is extremely uncomfortable for me here.

Hi Angelique,
I am sorry you are uncomfortable in the nursing home. I think it would be a hard place to live. But I'm happy you can get on the internet and connect with people. I am more in the empty nester stage and I have been missing the kid routines lately. I sort of flop around also and do chores to entertain myself.

I don't drive much. Hubby does most of it.

Yes, it's very weird living here. There's no privacy and I'm a very private, interior focused person. I don't join in really in the daily activities. I mainly just watch YouTube videos and read in my room.

I used to have nightmares where my apartment would be filled with strangers who wouldn't leave. Now I'm living that.

I'm sorry you flop around I never had kids so I can only imagine how hard it must be to have to adjust to not being needed in certain ways, and just the whole and completely different empty nest situation.
