Default suicide watch

has anyone who has ever self harmed, been put on suicide watch by a family/ friend/ person who saw you do it?

Possible trigger:

I can understand why this person did it, they didn't know me as a person, but they cared enough to put me on suicide watch.

Possible trigger:

who else has been in this situation

I'm very secretive about my self-harm, so I've never been put on suicide watch for it.

Possible trigger:

I could see where self-harm would cause a family member or friend to respond that way.

I have scar that could past for self harm because I had scratch myself sometime in my sleep at night. I have been suicidal but my mom got mad at me for informing my doctor how I was feeling at 13.

I only just saw this post, and yeah, I've been there. Kinda makes it difficult to open up to anyone. I finally found a T who is very understanding, but that took a while.

Do you have anyone you can think of who might be safe to talk to? Someone who just might get it? Doesn't have to be a professional.

Print out some literature for the person on what self injury is. It's no different than drinking, doing drugs or over eating. It's a coping mechanism for pain. I've never been put on suicide watch for cutting, but it is considered a red flag to medical professionals, especially if you have suicidal thoughts. So keep that in mind. Education is important for family and friends. Also helps to not cut in visible places if you can't help but do it.

Thank goodness I wasn't sectioned or been on suicide watch. Apart from that, no. My mum knows but I don't think she understands.
