Default Therapy Bucket List

If you had a bucket list for therapy, what would it look like?

Mine would be...

1) I want a hug
2) I want a blanket
3) I want to be able to cry a real, honest cry
4) I want twice a week
5) I want him to pick up on subtleties and inferences

I want to know why the therapist found me challenging
What was supposed to be the point of what she did or said
What was supposed to be happening in there that was supposed to be useful to me

1) To be able to ask for what I need in the moment
2) a therapeutic intensive or retreat where I got to see T every day for 3-5 days and didn’t have to go back to the real world in between or a weekend of long sessions for intensive work.
3) to be able to be quiet with T
4) to have T use appropriate touch to comfort me
5) a treatment team meeting with me, T, old Pdoc and my massage therapist... or maybe a “business lunch”.
6) T getting to meet the priest that started me on my healing journey (without me there... being there would creep me out).

Oh, Stopdog my heart breaks reading this. I too have been there. T’s giving up on me, T’s telling me I can’t heal, Calling me resistant.... new T keeps calling my attention to the fact that I call myself “too much” a lot. I hope some day you are able to find a true healer be it a T or someone else that can help you on your journey. You are not challenging her skill set just was not what you needed but she couldn’t own that.

To be able to not only feel but express what I'm feeling in T. Throughout the week I have all these worries and emotions. I can write them all down, but when it comes to sitting and talk about them, I just speak the words without any feelings or emotions, I think it makes me come across as hard or coping well with **** but it's not the case most of the week.

Fill the bucket with sloppy sand and water then tip it over his head

Or is that taking the bucket list too literally?

I don't have a bucket list. Everything I wanted either has been given or I know it's a no. Well, there are a few things that I want to know about her. But I get a hug after every session, I get emails, I have a stuffed animal and a rock, I get tons of reassurance and encouragement and support. Oh, and my T is going to do her best to never abandon me. I'm very happy with my T and where I'm at in therapy.

I would have had a long list before, but now I just want to be able to see him again.
