Default Pets and alike the very own war noises

How do you deal with the problem of strong noises from bangs and fireworks so typical these days and the confusion they provoke in kitties and doggies?

I try to react as normal as I can to avoid increasing my doggies fears and I guess I will try to isolate them as much as possible from the outside.
As I wasnít gonna be at home, Iím gonna down the roller blinds, turn on a warm lamp and put some relaxing music on TV. Put both doggies on the sofa and I will put on the more scared doggie a tight scarf around his body.
I know it doesnít sound normal :-) but since Iím not gonna be here with them.

I just behave normally around the house, helps one of my cats relax, the other one is as yet untested with bangs.

Poor darling sweetpea Ebony was nervous of bangs, she'd cower in bed the whole time even with me behaving normaly and reassuring her

Kitties are very sensitive and cautious. I donít see a too bad sign if she refuses herself on her bed though. I think it means sheís smart and knows how to calm herself down.

Yeah Ebony was smart, we sadly lost her earlier this year

I just posted a rant about my neighbors and the noise they are making.

My dog, BG, is terrified of loud noises. I give him melatonin tablets to try to help him stay calm. They help with the noise from thunder, but he is coming out of his skin tonight.

Loud noises don't usually bother my cats, but one of the booms was so loud tonight that they jumped. Even the deaf kitty jumped. I guess she felt it.

Sorry, I kind of got off on a vent about my furbabies. Trying to act normally helps critters. I've heard good things about the Thundercoat, but haven't tried one myself. Sounds like you are doing the same thing with the tight scarf. Keeping all your babies in the house tonight is a very good idea. Keeps them safe.

Good luck to you and your fur family.

It all already finished luckily. :-)
I was reading about that topic and the more exposition doggies and cats have to all kind of noises since they are little, the better.
I know my male doggie was risen on a very quiet place in the country-side so when I adopted him I could notice how he even reacted to noises from motorbikes.

Thereís nothing that make me more sad than seeing an animal scared. Maybe, bc I know itís one of the worst states to be in.
I try to act with him as normal as possible and I even walk with him in the street in the same direction the noise took place. Itís the only way I know to make him know that nothing matters.
