My Mood: Shaved heads. What do you think?

Default Shaved heads. What do you think?

So I've been thinking about shaving my head lately to clean it up a bit. The hairdressers is not only costly but being confined to a chair with someone using scissors around my neck makes me feel very vulnerable and cautious of what I say. So shaving my head feels like a great alternative.

I did this rather recently and received compliments BUT the thing is, I'm 19 and I feel like there is a secret ageism associated with shaved heads. Am I missing out on hair-styling?? Or am I thinking too much into it?? Other men my age keep up with modern hairstyle trends which is fine but my mind isn't with that. It's just that when I go out in public, I feel like there's something missing. There's a huge weight lifted off my head.

So, basically, I'm wondering what people here think when they see a shaved head - if anything at all. Some people might not think anything. It's just giving me a little bit of social anxiety and I've struggled with agoraphobia so the last thing I want is feeling like I can't go outside or socialise because of something silly like a haircut. Is this not worth worrying about?? Should I shave it??

Personally, I like shaved heads.

I think shaved heads look cool on both guys and girls.

Hope you don't take this in a creepy way, but they can look sexy too.

So I don't think people will look at you weird or anything.

Haha, it's alright. I don't think that's creepy at all, I agree with you!

And I'd certainly hope not... It's just a hairstyle!!

I agree with Caelix. It’s cool. If I wouldn’t get so much grief, I feel like I would shave my head or at least take it down to Pink’s level. It would be so much easier to take care of. I also wish I didn’t care so much about what others think.

I say go for it.

Gosh, you and me both!

Yeah, the maintenance is also one of the reasons I'm going to shave it; the washing, the styling, the wind... Goodness, the wind. It blows it all over the place, lol. As you said, so much easier to just shave it! It does look good on both genders, perhaps sometime you could give it a go

Thanks for the reply, Jennifer I'm definitely gonna go for it.

I live in a colder winter climate & hair is insulation for tje wonter months here.

Im not fond of shaved heads...just my preference as others have theirs. Summer months & sun burn living on a farm & working out in the sun would require a hat anyway & probably easier than having to wash sweaty hear all the time.
For me as a woman, even ay my age I have long hair but pull it back & wear it up all the time. I personally like gray hair....that is my preference....as we ALL are different

Have you done it yet, since you made the decision? I try to enjoy the best of both worlds. I shave my head usually twice a year, and go to a hairdresser a few other times in the year. I like the way it looks on most people, male or female, and think it exudes a nice air of confidence.

There's your answer. Do what you like, personally, regardless of anyone else's opinion. I'm a girl, and I shaved my head a few years back. It was really fun. I've thought about doing it again sometime, but it's a drag taking so long to grow all my hair back to a long length.

Where I work there are a few guys that have shaved their heads and have very groomed beards. Looks awesome I think. I live out in the middle of no where, but I think it's kind of an in thing right now. I say, if you want to do it, go for it.
