My Mood: Should I be concerned?

Default Should I be concerned?

Today at work I reached over the table to grab something. I had to reach over really far and I brushed up against the table. I donít know if I hit a nerve or hit a bone. It didnít really feel like I hit anything hard. It was the bone thatís right below my stomach on my right side of my hip. All I really did was lean over the table. Anyways, It caused excruciating pain. I have a high pain tolerance too. I can get dental work done without novocaine. That kind of stuff. But this pain was so bad I felt like throwing up. I just kind of stood there for a couple seconds holding the spot. My coworker came over and asked me for something. She said ďthank you.Ē And I said ďthanks. I mean. Your welcome.Ē I could not speak or comprehend properly either because of the pain. Now I am getting a bruise, and itís starting to become painful to walk. Not impossible, just in an achy way. I donít understand how brushing up/ leaning against a table can cause so much pain.

Does anyone have any comments or suggestions?

Hello MountainDewed. So sorry you are in pain A doctor told me that bone pain is the worst kind of physical pain a human can experience because it can feel really deep.

I don't know that you necessarily need to worry. I've had small accidents before, briefly bumped a leg or something...it hurt a lot, bruised and then healed without intervention. Is health anxiety something you experience?

If in doubt, you can always head to urgent care to get it checked. Ice is often the best place to start with pain like that and inflammation. Wrap the ice and don't apply to the area for longer than 20 minutes as that can affect skin integrity. There are of course anti-inflammatory drugs out there such as ibuprofen but you should check with your doctor and pharmacist before trying. Those are not a good idea for some people even though they do not require a Rx.

If you are concerned about a possible fracture then the only way to be sure is to have an examination from a doctor. Do you have a history of low bone density or recurring fractures etc?

I hope you feel better soon!

Health anxiety is something I deal with. Mine is kind of weird though because I donít usually go to the doctors about it. I just take care of things myself. Like, I donít meet the criteria for Somatization disorder because I donít go to the doctor.

Itís still hurting. It hurt to eat dinner tonight too. Iíll see how it is in the morning.
