Sounds like a misunderstanding. I don't think you need to trouble yourself over it. If it helps, you could do a random act of kindness for a stranger to sort of balance things out. I like to do that when sometimes if I've had a bad day. Cheers me right up

I would have offered to help him out even though I didnít work at the store. Iím sure I could have helped him find what he was looking for. I think once he realized I wasnít an employee we both felt embarrassed and walked away.

Yes. I have been kind of noticing how society seems to be pitted against each other. For instance we all have to do shopping on the weekends and the stores don't seem to put more people on or do anything so we are all fighting for carts and food and time and we get snippy.

In the morning as I go to work the trains are over stuffed and it is a fight to get on them and they never put more on and we just have to take it.

But if you are rich or a manager you can come in late or telework or whatever and have a much more pleasant life.

Very true, Emily, with the typical work schedules, everyone is stuck in the same traffic or public transit, trying to get caught up on household stuff on the weekends. No wonder many people are stressed out and snippy. I am very fortunate to be able to work from home and it does help my mental state and energy levels I hated spending over an hour and a half commuting every day.

I've lived on the same street for many years and I have seen things get worse as far as consideration for others. We are in close quarters - small duplex houses and small yards, so noise carries. Parking is somewhat limited too. Before people tended to watch the noise levels and we kind of had an understanding where people parked. There are a lot of renters, so turnover in residents and these days some of the neighbors are not that great. The noise levels have gone up, people are fighting over parking spaces, they let their dogs run loose, etc. It's chaos. I am lucky to be moving soon.

I haven't seen anyone ruder lately. But most people have always been rude to me. I don't know why

I went to a different sonic today and the service was great.

Not related to rude people but I saw a sign by the sink and it was talking about how to make ice cream slushes. We asked her if they had them and she hesitated for a bit and said yes. I havenít seen them on their website or nutrition page since last summer. I wonder if their bringing them back and just havenít formerly announced it or if itís some secret menu option. I plan on going back to my local one on Friday and ordering one. Although Iím sure Iíll probably get the run around there.

are people just losing it? I work in a place where people go to complain and we used to have mature civil complaints where the person actually had a gipe and in the last year we have just had a complete devolution of the things. Long rambling letters that are 1/2 bizarre where people are acting like they are entitled to things they aren't entitled do? Is it the media that is making people think, if they say it, they have a right to it?

I think there has been a slow, steady increase in selfishness (going hand-in-hand with an increase in overall rudeness) over the years. It is partly the culture; and it's gotten a bit worse with that Drumpf person yapping off every single day about something or other. I hope and pray people never come to see his behaviour as normal or acceptable!

20+ years ago, when I started working for a fairly posh retail chain of stores, we had a week-long training session in Customer Service. It surprised me that, to most of the people in that room with me, these concepts had never occurred to them. I was a bit older than most everybody there, and I had learned at home that courtesy is an art form, and that it would help you in life. And being considerate and thoughtful can REALLY turn someone's day around, definitely!

I will say that the way in which the lessons were presented made an impression on me, and a lasting one. A refresher course in courtesy is never wasted, I believe.

And Silver Trees, I think you and I are a lot alike.
