My Mood: What's going on with me?

Confused What's going on with me?

Hi everyone, I've been struggling with a bunch of questions and am looking for advice.
I am 19 F and have no diagnoses from anyone, ever.

My boyfriend telling me that I seem like Iím ďdissociatingĒ (mind you, heís a 22 year old boy with no college degree, but heís also the only person who actually gives me quality attention) which doesnít seem entirely wrong, but also I donít know what to do about it. Things donít change shape/size like they used to when I had panic attacks over the summer and I donít lose time and such but I sort of feel like most of the time Iím like, living in this sort of lofty space above the top of my skull? I daydream pretty much constantly, even when Iím having a conversation Iím sort of off in another world at the same time. I have a lot of imaginary conversations -- I donít hear voices or anything, itís just me, but I also like to talk out loud and when Iím in public I frequently end up gesturing/emoting outward without meaning to. Itís making my relationship difficult because I feel like a lot of the time when I should be experiencing him Iím just daydreaming. Especially because the person I talk to when I daydream is someone I was in love with before I met my current man (he doesnít know this).
Sometimes I feel like Iím being pulled forward from this lofty part of my brain to the front part of my brain, it sort of feels like blood is being rushed to the front and my brain gets all tingly. When this happens I tend to feel clearer. I donít know what this is. Is this grounding? Is it just mindfulness and Iím over exaggerating? Is it a ďswitchĒ that I just donít know is a switch?

So I guess I want to knowÖ is this dissociation? Am I just being an a##hole right now posting here? I donít think I have DID because I donít think I lose chunks of time, but at the same time, Iím never totally present.
I just donít know what to do anymore. I want to be more present, but also, living hurts. I donít want to talk to a therapist because itís so much easier to pretend like everything is fine, and I know Iím in a lot of pain and Iím totally terrified under my flaking shield but I donít want to deal with it. Last time I went to a therapist (4 appts this summer when i had derealization panic attacks) I just turned into an asshole narcissist and decided I knew more than her and was better than her and cancelled all my appointments and never went backÖ

Thank you all so much.

Hello falco: I'm not really in a position to answer your question. I think that is really something that needs to be addressed by a mental health professional. However I do also have some of these kinds of experiences. And in my case at least I chalk them up to the effects of anxiety which I have a lot of.

I noticed this is your first post here on PC. So... welcome to PsychCentral! I hope you find the time you spend here to be of benefit. May I suggest you introduce yourself over on PC's New Member Introductions forum? Here's a link:

Default Re: What's going on with me?

DID/OSDD is on the far end of the spectrum and a result of severe and/or prolonged abuse and/or trauma in early childhood.

there are several other types of dissociation that do not include having alters.

you could be experiencing derealization and/or depersonalization which are types of dissociation and quite common in general. they often are a result of anxiety/stress and could be caused from panic attacks too (like you described in the past). sometimes people who smoke weed also experience that (not saying you do) or also medications (antidepressants, etc.) you also might have maladapative daydreaming.

you can learn grounding techniques which you can find by doing a google search. there are a lot of useful ideas for those.
