I can understand Spanish and Italian pretty well. I have lost a lot of vocabulary, though, so don't speak them very well.

Age at diagnosis?

I don't like the cat in the hat. I have always found that very disturbing. The movie was terrifying!

When you were growing up did you have any one person that you trusted and who cared for you?

...... interesting response

what do you find disturbing about it

and no, we didn't.

it probably would have been our mother if she wasn't such a *****. we never met the father, so..

what would your ideal house look like- describe how you would have it

depends..

wwhen we're in a good place, we imagine that we would like to live in a downton abby style castle, with servants and a pool and a golf course

all other times we imagine a house with a few rooms and a nice, but small garden.

question:

can you name all of the US states?

Hmmm. Probably because the two children were alone in the house while the mother was out and a stranger came uninvited into the house to play some "fun games" with them. The fish knew that Cat shouldn't be there and wanted the children to make him go away. The cat said "Nooooo, this will be fun! I have some fun tricks for you!" He picked up the fish bowl and balanced it on top of his umbrella, not listening to the fishes terrified pleas to be "please be put back down"!

He picked up more items, continuing to disregard the fishes terror, and eventually (of course) everything fell down and the fish landed in a teapot. The fish still pleaded with him (STOP! I do not like this one bit!) The fish told him to get out of the house but the cat (the adult) refused. The cat wanted to play more "fun games".

So the cat brought in his box with thing 1 and thing 2, and they wreaked havoc on the house. They broke all the rules, all the things, and did things the children knew shouldn't be done. The children said they don't like it an but the Cat didn't listen.

Then they saw the mother is coming home, so the Cat in the Hat got his big cleaning machine and tidied up the house so that it looked like nothing ever happened.
Mother walked in and asked what they did while she was away and they didn't know how to tell her what happened, so they didn't.

When I look at it that way I imagine I never liked that story and found it so disturbing because it was the story of my life. When mother turned her back the Cat and thing 1 and thing 2 played "fun games" and "did things they shouldn't do" then everything was dissociated away before mama turned around again.

Nothing to see here!

oh, Amyjay.

that is the best description of the cat in the hat I have ever read

I know I shouldn't be sitting here in tears of laughter (because you have lots of valid points), but the way you got some of it across.. I couldn't resist.

thank you

another observation about the cat in the hat:

in the movie, the boy's name (or maybe it's the girl), is diffrent to the original book
