It's looking like getting into a RTC isn't possible. At least not without going to the ER, being put through that hospital's ******** and then maybe, maybe getting into long-term treatment. All my psychiatrist office told me was, "If it's urgent, go to the ER. Otherwise we'll see you on the 18th." Gee, I feel so much better, thank you!

Haha, it's funny how when you need help and actually want it, it's just not there. I don't want to go through the ER because they'll dope me up, call it good and send me home with "precautionary measures". I don't need a band aid, damn it. I need help. But the system doesn't care, never has, never will. It's all just a broken mess of ********.

I feel ya. That's why I will never ever ever go to the ER for anything mental health related EVER again! Unless it was absolutely out of my control, but even there I would fight it with everything in me.

This is 1 reason I say most Drs don't care about the patient. It's easier and less work to dope someone up, send them home with a "check list", & say if it gets worse come back. It takes too much time & effort to call around to different mental health facilities and ask if they have a bed available then do all the transport paperwork. *They have "real" patients with "real" issues to deal with.

*Please note the last line is their perspective, not mine.

I understand it totally. I recently moved out of my home state. I have, since then, been to the ER here for a few things. One time a migraine, another time kidney stones and another time strep throat. Everything was fine and dandy and they treated me great... Until... I ended up in the ER over a caffeine overdose, although I never mentioned it was suicidal related. I just let them believe I was trying to stay awake for studies or what-not. At first, everything was okay. Then one of the Dr's saw my arms where I used to cut over 8 years ago and I could immediately see the countenance change.

I talked to my therapist over the phone. Normally I'd have a full session but I couldn't get up to go into town today. A mix of plain exhaustion because I can't sleep and just the overwhelming feeling of "why bother". I told him what my pdoc's office told me. He said he's going to talk to the pdoc that works with his office about finding an RTC. I also told him about the **** that's getting worse and happening more often. My T gets that I don't want to go to the ER and he doesn't want me to if it can be helped. He talks with this guy tomorrow morning, I guess. So we'll see what happens.
