Default Anger Is Better

Maybe anger isn't so bad when it's compared to all of the other crap in my head. Everyone of my teachers growing up, they were all fixated on getting my anger under control because I had a "problem". Did any of them ever think that maybe that wasn't the issue that actually needed attention? Did any one of them stop to ask why I was angry in the first place? Nope. I was just a bad kid who got into fights and argued with authority. Now, all I want is to be angry so that everything else shuts up. I want to be angry so I'm not scared, so I'm not so down I can't get up from the couch and so I'm not so focused on things I can't control.

I find being scared and being so down I can hardly get off the couch etc to be worse for me than anger also and my head won’t shut the **** up

I agree it sucks when people who are/were supposed to “help” get it all wrong...

Yes, if you can somehow harness that anger and transform it into a powerful ally, an ally of positive energy, then that would be great. I try to do something along those lines which helps a wee bit.

Anger is an emotion and is not inherently wrong. I find that when I get angry a lot that there is something in my life that is bothering me and I need to face that. Do I need to make some changes in my emotional life. Is something going on at work or home that is bothering me? Also sometimes righteous anger is called for is someone has wronged you. It’s just not good to get stuck and wallow in it.

Unfortunately, the temptation is to address the symptom, rather than the cause (since that would involve research & effort).

Anger can be a good way redirect the negative energy in your system away from yourself, but you have to be careful not to direct it at the undeserving & not let it become a permanent part of you, since it's also rather corrosive to the self.
