Making a gratitude list first thing in the morning helps me,along with meditation.

Yes, sounds lovely in theory but it has not worked for me as being depressed usually equals to not being able to find something to be grateful for, considering the huge amount of emotional pain I have in the mornings.

One has to first make peace with "stop crying and getting out of bed" before proceeding with meditation.
Thanks for your suggestion.

Starting a new day depressed is hard to do. Sometimes the only way out is through. You're crying? Get up anyway. Still crying, brush your teeth anyway. Still crying? Get dressed, make coffee, do whatever you do in the morning any way.

Laying in bed wishing you could not be depressed and not cry is just going to stress you out more. Try to get up .... get moving.

Thank you very much. I actually have started doing that. Navigating the morning while crying. You are correct. It doesn't make me feel better but at least I accomplish the small stuff

I am doing that too. Btw this phrase seems so nice "navigating the morning" while crying

This is the article I wrote about it. I hope it helps you! Dump Depression and Get Yourself out of Bed - Winterbritt

I also think it helps to know what you're going to do in the morning, to have a schedule of events lined out, even if it's just really simple things like 1. eat a granola bar in the bathtub. 2. add bubbles to bathwater. 3. pick granola crumbs out of bathwater.

Thank you very much for sharing this article with me. It has been helpful.
