Unhappy Help a depressed friend.

Hi guys, I have a friend, he is constantly depressed , he has a lot of problems in his life.

He has a business that's losing money but his business partners won't end it (due to complex reasons) , so he loses money every month and unable to stop that.
He also has problems of alcoholism and sometimes drugs problems.

I really want to help him but whenever he becomes depressed he would go into hiding.

He would not reply to any of my messages for days and I would worry sick about him.

Right now he's doing this again but I don't know when I'm going to be able to see him again.
He's ripping me apart , I wish he'd just tell me what's wrong.

How can I help him??? I have to help him guys!...

I've tried to give him time but now I see that it won't help because he's just going to get better and get worse it's a vicious cycle.

In your experience, what can be done for him at this point?

Thank you in advance!

Hello & Welcome, Endlesstear.

Trying to assist someone battling depression can be frustrating. Social withdrawal is a symptom.
Among the best things you can do is be willing to listen without judging or advising.

Can you try to talk him about getting help while he is in one of his better cycles? Is he open at all to treatment? I know you're worried about him. I think the article listed above may be helpful in supporting your friend. I hope you can get through to him. Best wishes.

Thank you so much for your help!
I've decided to compile a file of useful self help information for him,
this way I hope I'm not pushing him too much and he can read it whenever he wants.
Thank you once more
