Default How do you know if you have dependent personality disorder?

I think I might have this disorder, but my therapist says I don't have a personality disorder because people with personality disorders don't get along well with others. I think I started out with avoidant personality disorder, then got dependent personality disorder. Then I think I got obsessive compulsive personality disorder until I got schizophrenia. Then I think I got schizoid personality disorder. I mean I rarely get mad and sometimes I have to act mad so people don't think I don't get mad. When I was at the state hospital I never got mad even though people were spitting in my face, pushing me, hitting me, yelling at me, peeing on the toilet seat and making me clean it up, and keeping me up all night with whale calls. I also don't like sex. I don't like to have sex and have no interest in having it. Do I have a personality disorder?

Well... as you probably already know... we here on PC cannot diagnose you. Mental health diagnosis is a job for mental health professionals. Anything any of us, here on PC, might say would more be simply a guess based on very limited information. And it would, to my mind, likely as not be wrong.

I know it can be frustrating to have the mental health professionals you see tell you that you don't have a particular diagnosis when you feel as though you must because you seem to meet all the criteria. I've always felt as though I must have had some personality disorder or something... possibly BPD. But all I've ever gotten from any of the mental health professionals I've seen is depression & anxiety. Well... that's easy...

Anyway... I guess that doesn't really answer your question. But these are my thoughts with regard to your post.
