Default Winter Solstice instead of Christmas

So this year decided to replace Christmas with Winter Solstice. Ironically, my town has a few nice Winter Solstice type celebrations and gatherings. Also, unlike Christmas Day on Winter Solstice things will still be open. I can invent new traditions around Winter Solstice. Our Planetarium might have a special show.

Because today I started to think about another Christmas alone this year...and without church (not allowed to discuss that on PC)...I just want no parts of it.

Winter Solstice has some lovely art on Pinterest. I love the colors and the artwork which emphasizes nature.

I may celebrate Winter Solstice with a nice dinner out because everything will be open...or the Planetarium or to walk around the outdoor town mall and skating rink...and just take back...this pagan holiday. Maybe will leave some breadcrumbs out for the squirrels.

Maybe I will bake bread. Don't have a big tree this year. Just a little wooden Swedish tree...does that count? It's cute. I like it. That's it. I'm relieved.

I feel sad being alone this year and this has to be the last winter holiday alone.

New traditions and setting goals for change are positive steps. Hope you find peace in what is and reach that goal for next year

Thanks. I guess that means rejoining the human race in 2019!

My local Planetarium has a wonderful Winter Solstice showing, I just found out, so I will go there on the weekend. The local Unitarian church has a wonderful Winter Solstice ceremony. I will admit it is not my church and it might feel a little strange going there...but I have given up my regular church. I still need spiritual community so I will try this out.

These things sound simple but I am so isolated it takes a lot of effort to get out and do things. But I am going to make the effort.

I like your plans! One small step at a time

I know what if is like to stay relatively isolated. I struggle with finding those to sporatically call up and make plans to do things with. And showing up solo to things can feel awkward. At the same time, doing so increases the chances to meet someone for future meetups.

Thanks. I have been doing things alone for years. I just got tired of it. But not doing it has led to more isolation.

I went to the Planetarium for the Winter Solstice show and it was radically cool and awesome!
