I saw the EMDR therapist last week. She does think it's possible, but first I need to practice grounding and relaxation techniques before I do the actual sessions. Sounds good to me.

Looks like I'll be starting sooner than previously planned. I already know of some of the techniques T wants me to use for grounding and whatnot.

Iím in EMDR therapy now. We are tackling things that are more recent that are interfering with functioning now (my preference) and selecting things that come up as we go through it.

The triggering person has been traveling, so Iím not sure yet if it is working. Iím responsive, which is promising.

I have recently changed therapists in order to try EMDR therapy. The problem we are having is choosing a more stabile time to start. While I'm homeless is not an ideal time to start. On the other hand, the homelessness is not likely to change any time soon while i await the disability process. Key note is that I do TRUST my new therapist and he is very willing to work with me.

Had my first EMDR session today. Went pretty well actually. Therapist said to choose a memory that I first developed trauma from. She used two paddles that vibrated a pattern while I was reliving that memory. It was interesting that all the work I did with my previous T came into play and it helped. I will email her tomorrow for check-in and see her next week for post-treatment processing before I tackle the next one.

One of the things she mentioned was that sometimes other memories may be brought up, so I'll be looking out for that.

Thanks so much for sharing about your experience.

My current pdoc thinks EMDR is a potentially very powerful treatment modality.
