I believe with the treatment, you will have success.
I certainly have.

Adderral combined with wellbutrin was absolutely awesome for me.
I hope you are doing well.

I was diagnosed when I was 30. Been on meds for about 2 years now. My PNP said it's not usual for women. To be diagnosed later, especially high functioning women, and especially after have kids. I see the signs now in my childhood, and I really wish I had been diagnosed earlier. I feel like I could have been so much more.

I think that's a lot of late diagnosed people in general though.

That was very and still is frustrating to me.

Why people are ignorant to ADD/ADHD is because, the healthy grown ups, in my case, parents, refuse to believe that it actually exists.
Since my mother whom I cut ties with, with the help of my T's advice, is narcissistic in nature, she wants to blame all my faults at me.
She doesn't want to excuse me that my mental health condition was the key factor to many of my poor life choices.

I wish you the best.
I'm always dismayed when I hear therapists advise people to cut ties with their parents, I'm surprised they don't suggest you ask your parents about their upbringing, just so you can get an insight into why they are the way they are. My sister is very nasty about my mum, but if I'm honest, my mum was better to us than my sister was to her daughter. I don't think cutting ties should be done unless its absolutely last resort.

I have bipolar with attention deficit also. I am currently taking straterra for focus. I was on adderall but I enjoyed it too much and managed to get the amount upped and got so jacked up I was knocking myself out at night with alcohol and trazodone. This was putting my health and marriage in jeopardy and I righted the ship a little over a month ago. No more alcohol and no more stimulants. Straterra is interesting; where the stimulants give you a push to motivate you, straterra helps you steer. It took a couple of weeks to really kick in and the I noticed I was staying on tasks instead of hopping around.

ETA - I looked at this other thread:
https://forums.psychcentral.com/atte...dult-adhd.html
and I am doing a little chin scratching. Is it hypomania that was diagnosed as ADHD? I hid my bipolar diagnosis (first diagnosed in my mid 30s, 23 years ago) and was tested for ADHD by someone who knew nothing of my bipolar diagnosis. I do need (or at least do better with) an attention enhancing med in the mix.

WELLBUTRIN with Adderall has been a God send for me. Go back on it, my friend. Adderall on its own can be effective as an antidepressant. That's what my psychiatrist once told me.
It has saved my life too!

Oh it's it's a long story. It's not a out my diagnoses as to why I cut ties with my mother. It has more things to it. Ever since I was a baby to the other day.
Thank you for your input. I hope you are doing and feeling better.

I wonder why I didn't see or feel a difference in the 6 month of me taking it? It got me wired the first week. After that, nothing... so I went back on Ritalin.

I was diagnosed at 27 when I was in college. It felt good to have an explanation for how I was throughout my life.
