Default Are you a quitter?

I wish I wasn't but this is the usual pattern and it happened again last night. I feel relieved and upset all at the same time.

The pattern? I quit jobs.

I find a job. I like it at first. I put in the best effort I can to be perfect and not get into trouble. This results in getting noticed and then being given additional responsibilities and duties. This results in increased pressure on me to perform at a high level. The anxiety increases exponentially to the point it consumes my life. Eventually I am having panic attacks. Eventually I am driven to the point I can't continue and I quit.

I find a job. I like it at first..... and so on and so on and so on.

In the past I would have said...maybe to being a quitter. At some points it was vital and absolutely necessary to preserve my mental well being. So quitting was a responsible choice. in other situations I quit because I damn well didnt want to do that job. I think we put so much negative energy into things we do to preserve our well being. What is wrong with "being a quitter"? Who cares beyond me? Who made the rules of life I am supposed to follow?

I'm so sorry, WishfulThinker66 I can relate to your struggles. Unfortunately this is the way anxiety works. You do everything you can to avoid feeling anxiety, but the more you try, the more stressed you become. It sucks. I think we need to learn how to break the cycle somehow. It certainly isn't easy. It definitely isn't easy for me. I'm sorry you're experiencing this as well. I hope things will get better for you soon. Wish you good luck! Let us know how it goes. Sending many hugs to you

WishfulThinker66, did you work in retail? Sorry, if Iím being nosy. Iím just curious.

The only jobs Iíve worked have been in grocery or in retail. I quit my job in grocery because of the customers. My last job in retail had been going good until my boss got weird. I feel comfortable at my current job. Iíve been feeling really anxious lately, but itís not work related. And itís not affecting me at work. But I canít for the life of me figure out why I am so anxious, when I have everything going for me right down to the fact that I have 3 vacations lined up this year. I have absolutely nothing to be anxious about, yet I feel really bad for some reason.

yes I am.

if I can't get it right first time, that's it- I am very impatient

if their's something I want, I'd rather not have it if it means trying to do things you just can't get right- certainly one of my downfalls

the only acception to this is my music.

if their is a song I want to download, and I can't find it, I will walk to the end of the earth until it is found.

I am very impressed with my collection of music files. perhaps not as good as it could be (I know it's not, their's loads of music I don't have in my collection), but seeing as some songs took me a full 4 years to find, I guess that makes it a good collection

lol

I should addd some of these are instrimentals and forign songs where I couldn't rely on lyrics to find them

Yes. I cannot deal with my emotions when I fail in any situation, especially in a social situation. I also have a high level of anxiety of the possibility of failing, which prevents me from even trying to do anything.

After googling the word astute, I am sorry if I was rude. I know retail can suck.

I was thinking about this...who said quitting is easy? I dont necessarily think it is. Its not about giving in its about moving on..
