If you are a real alcoholic, drinking again is inevitable until after a complete psychic change has occurred. Others will pat you on the back and cheer you on for not drinking, but then they will blame you when you end up drunk again and without anyone understanding why.

The original A.A. can fix that where today's AA cannot.

im learning that with each and every craving i nearly give in to.....i began to reason with myself that i deserve to have a few drinks....after all...ive made enough progress right??....theres nothing wrong with having these drinks...i mean who wants to be sober for all those days anyway??....

but then i remember the pain....the sickness....the scary palpitations....the anxiety....the depression....etc....etc....etc....did that help me keep from drinking?....no

something else did....

physical cravings were due to the HALT theory for me....Hungry Angry Lonely Tired

I was notAngry Lonely or Tired...i got Hungry...i fixed that and the cravings went away...

I learned an important lesson today...

That is fine as long as it works. For myself, it did not.

Way to go Introvrtd1,

HALT is a really important tool to remember. We spent a lot of time talking about it in rehab. Often a craving is due to something else. I find hunger is a big trigger for me as well, as is feeling tired.

day 18....yesterday was rough....from what i've read, it's likely protracted withdrawal syndrome...it can last from a few months to two years...

when it strikes, it feels like day 2 or 3 during the acute withdrawal stage, only it less intense and doesn't last as long....

sigh

its also likely my diet....sugar....ill cut it out and see if that helps...i've read sugar can have the same effects as withdrawal when taken during recovery...

it's hard but I just had to change behaviors and people I hang out with. It's a long road but I remember having all of those stated by OP
