Default Prostitution addiction

for the last few years i have slowly been employing the services of escort services. it started back a while back when i was high and drunk. but now i feel myself wanting to do it when sober and even during the daytime. i've even cut out of work to go see an escort as well. this is awful, but once when me and my gf had a fight i had sex with an escort to relieve my anger. i feel so stupid i never have cheated in my whole life and pride myself on that, but i persuaded myself into believing it wasn't cheating. this habit is really expensive not to mention illegal in the state i reside so im a nervous wreck whenever i do it so it causes more stress. im depressed and this only seems to be a coping mechanism... anybody got any advice i want to stop and pursue a regular realtionship but right now that doesn't seem plausible. i have tried to date normally but have had no luck. my confidence and self esteem are basically nonexistent so escorts are so easy to deal with i gradually go to them.

i feel it's like a drug addict "chasing a high". another thought, what in your life is unfulfilling? are you using this as a means to fill that hole? it's only temporarily filling it but you found something that "works" but it also is unfulfilling at the same time. i'd dig deeper to see what you feel you lack.
glad you posted about your concerns. hopefully our replies may help.

I wouldn't touch a whore or whatever you want to call them. Think about how many men she has been with. STD's are nasty and then there is AIDS. It is explotation of women and I think it's disgusting.

I agree, 50 guy... but so I am sure does the original poster. Most addicts hate the thing they're addicted to, it seems a bit unhelpful to state the bleeding obvious in quite such an accusatory way. And I'm a woman who's been sexually abused, so am just as against exploitation as you are. There are ways of stating a truth without turning into a stick to beat someone with.

Daelnoic, you already know the reasons why you shouldn't be indulging this habit... you obviously do need some kind of therapy. I'm sure there are organisations like alchoholics anonymous that deal with sex addiction. From what I've read in men it is often a symptom of extreme loneliness... is this a problem in your life? You say that you are depressed. Have you seen a doctor?

At one point I was put on prozac for depression. Although it wasn't the right med for me, in the end, it was helpful in the short term, particularly as it stopped me thinking obsessively about sex. You need to talk to a doctor about getting checked for STD's, getting some kind of counselling, and possibly medical help, in the short term at least, for the depression.

I applaud you for your honesty by the way. It takes a lot of guts to admit to what you have here... that same courage really can help you get through this problem. Forgive yourself, and seek help.

Perhaps you're right, however, I am a get to the point type of guy. Sexual explotation of women is disgusting to me. I am a natural protector of women, children and those that cannot protect themselves.
