Pros: It works!
Cons: Large pill to swallow

It also has an off-label use for anxiety and it really works! I would NEVER allow myself to become addicted to a benzo when Neurontin is available.

Pros: NONE
Cons: caused permanent muscle damage to L hand and arm

This drug caused my L hand/arm to atrophy in less than 7 days of being on it. I have been off of it for over 8 years and I still have permanent musclue and nerve damage due to this drug.
Ironically I am taking Lyrica which is the "Son of Neurontin". The Lyrica works great for my nerve pain.

Pros: Very calming, I love it
Cons: Large pills, plus at night taking two large capsules that make me gag :)

I would rate this a 10, but I noticed the effects seemed to wear off, or I just get used to the feeling it causes.

Pros: Magic Bullet!!
Cons: Absolutely none

Seven years ago at the extreme peak of my depression and psychosis I finally admitted to a need for help. I had described my head like a broken hard drive that could not hold onto any information. The first pill given to me was Neurontin. On my way driving to a first follow up session, it hit me with a tremendous impact that suddenly realized that I had been holding one thought and processing it normally. The thought itself was irrelevant to the event. I'd read that it can reduce chronic pain. My left shoulder was impaired by pain in the joint, and had been for a year. Two weeks later I had full motion, no pain and developed the muscles around it again. It is the most benign drug out there for interactions. Based on my early experience I have kept them in my medley for no other reason than "why the hell not?"

Pros: Helps nerve pain
Cons: none I can find

In May of 2006 I fell and broke my arm. Not a simple break, the humerus snapped in two. The nerve was partially caught in the break but I had to wait for surgery. The burning, numbness and pain in my left hand was almost unbearable and kept getting worse. A pain management specialist gave me neurontin and it saved my life. I still have nerve pain, and I still take the neurontin, but then the doctor who did the surgery took 5 hours to "tease" the nerve off the bone. I know neurological insults like mine may take years to work themselves out, or they may not work out at all. Meanwhile, I am so grateful for neurontin.

Pros: Many uses!
Cons: Some drowsiness for a while, effectiveness wears down a little

I've been using neurontin for Restless Legs Syndrome for over a year, and I love it. I can get massages, and relax without my legs (and/or arms) going nuts. It also helped with my anxiety too. Only downside is that the initial effectiveness can wear down and you have to up your dosage a little. No big deal. It helped me sleep better at night until my anti-depressant gave me insomnia.
