Default Straight men and Tranny porn

My boyfriend of 4years seems to have an addiction to tranny porn. We don't have sex regularly and I'm starting to feel like he may be gay. I've asked him about the porn and he says its nothing but when we do have sex I'm usually doing all the work and he doesn't seem too into it. I've been going to couples counseling with him and nothing is progressing in our relationship. I'm pretty sure I will be breaking up with him soon, but I'm curious to know what his fascination with tranny porn is. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hi, RockyHigh328, and welcome to Psych Central! What is "tranny" porn? Does it have to do with transsexuals, by any chance?

I've actually known a lot of men that admitted they liked porn with tranny's/shemales/transsexuals. If you want advice on the addiction itself, you might want to post in the addictions form. There's a special spot to post for sexual addictions.
But what kind of porn someone likes doesn't say much about their orientation in a lot of instances. Like, for example, I'm gay, but I watch straight porn most of the time because A. lesbian porn is so fake and B. I usually think the girls in straight porn are more attractive.
Either way, I don't think the type of porn would be the problem. I'd be more worried about the addiction itself. Im not really into that kind of porn, but maybe it has something to do with the image of female "dominance" that he likes?

I will give you this male's perspective on Tranny Porn. If anyone else agrees, please do comment!

I am sure other guys feel this way... I often feel alot of tension and stress throughout the work week. Most of it is due to money issues, work stress, commuting stress..or getting turned on randomly by a girl on the bus.. whatever.. the point is we have inner "tension" we seek to release.. and sexual fantasies give us an illusion of tension relief.

There is something enticing about tranny porn because it is a fantasy of getting it both in the **** and getting your pen** stimulated too... to a guy, since our prostate gland is stimulated by rear penetration.. we feel a sexual connection to watching tranny porn and it "turns us on" so to speak.

One cure for this is to have the right female partner, who will explore these fantasies in a safe and comfortable way.. or at least discuss them openly. Suppression leads to more tension, I say. So your partner needs you and you need him... be there for each other and help relieve that stress bottled up!

Please don't use the word tranny, it's a slur. It's transgender. Thanks.

I don't. Not even in the slightest. I do not feel this is the general view. Nothing wrong with your perspective on things but as far as all the guys I know, not a single one could relate to what you say about this kind of porn and/or the "rear penetration" idea. Again, nothing wrong with your perspective and your needs sexually. Just pointing out that IMO, it's less prevalent than you might think.

Also you might want to post this to the addictions, sexual addictions section. It may have more to do with that than the relationship itself

My view of porn is that you're basically making love to everyone involved in the porn scene, whether you'd like to think of it that way or not. So watching "straight porn" is actually at least somewhat bisexual. I know men will say they just want the man to be a surrogate for his own ****, thus they want the man to be as nondescript as possible, but that's really just a way of rating another man's appearance or attractiveness. Watching female-shemale or shemale-shemale porn would also classify as bisexual but no more so than female-male porn. The only really straight porn for a male is female-female or female solo porn.

Uh, as far as I know, tranny has always meant transvestite, and is not a slur.

Apparently yours is a secondary meaning, one I've never heard, despite having known a couple of transgender people:

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=tranny

And of course it originally meant automotive transmission, but nevermind.
