Default So SICK of sweating like a pig on SSRIs

I know it is the meds too - tried Wellbutrin and was as dry as can be (unfortunately, it did nothing for my depression!). On 30 mg of Cymbalta, and was at the grocery tonight. Cashier asks me if I am ok because I am sweating like crazy - writing a check and sweat is dripping onto the check, smearing the ink!

It seems like I have a choice - insanity/thinness/depression/dry vs. somewhat happy/fat/perspiring heavily over no physical effort at all.

It stops me from exercising, cleaning my house right, going to festivals, etc. I HATE it!

Sweated on Paxil and Zoloft too.

But I hate the "black hole" of depression slightly more. What to do?

I had the horrible sweating on Celexa, plus a ton of other side effects. There are tons of SSRIs, so maybe keep trying till you find one that keeps you dry and happy? I don't know what else.

I get that on my AD, too. When I have to clean or do something else around the house that takes some energy, I put on a tank and short, crank the AC and put fans around. Even then, I have to take a shower after. And I carry a towel around to wipe the sweat so it doesn't get in my eyes.

It's miserable. I feel for you.

i know where you are comming from on this one, ever since i started taking meds for my depression i just start sweating even if im standing still in a cool place., i started a job in a old folkes home about five years ago i used to work nights which was ok when they were asleep but the beginning of a shift and the morning were like i was leaking, and i used to say this to one old lady that kept asking what was wrong,

i now have changed med i dont work now, standing in the supermarket in cold section with sweat dripping of your forehead must look a site but as yet i found meds that do this also help my depression so its something i put up with, maybe its time they invented a med to keep us cool

Unfortunately the sweating thing is common from what I've heard. It finally reduced after a couple YEARS of me taking SSRI's

yeah the sweats are cr&p, in fact the overall flu like symptoms are a nightmare.

the only thing you can do is try not to think about it. the more you fret over it, the more you sweat.

I wish I could vote with my feet. The AD I'm on now is an older one, and the only one which has ever had a significant therapeutic effect. So the best I can do is try to augment it with others in the hopes of keeping the dose down.

But boy I really hate sweating right when I get out of the shower. Makes me want to jump back in and start over. Cold showers are my friend, sigh.

My sister had a sweating problem on quite a few SSRIs. The only one that doesn't cause that problem for her is Prozac. Everyone is so different, though. I've tried Wellbutrin, Effexor, Celexa and Lexapro and none of them have made me sweat.

My oldest niece had a problem called hyperhidrosis. She was sweating excessively because of hormonal changes. The solution for her was getting Botox injections in her sweat glands. Sounded very odd to me, but it worked for her.
