Default Vaccinated Kennel cough outbreak

My vet recently informed me that they had seen a huge increase in the number of kennel cough outbreaks in the region in the last six months in dogs who had been vaccinated as a pose to dogs who hadn't.
So I am curious if anyone else out there has come across this with their local vet ?
I did ask if it was a dirty vaccine or virus mutation she could not tell me the vet I mean.

Curious, perhaps it is mutating. I had heard about some outbreaks in some daycares and kennels across the country but it had spread in unvaccinated or not up-to-date vaccinated dogs, but not in the up-to-date vaccinated ones. Will have to watch for this.

Most likely, you simply have a different strain of kennel cough in the area than what is being vaccinated against.

The kennel cough vaccine only covers certain strains of the disease, so if your dog comes in contact with a strain not covered by the vaccine, they will still pick up kennel cough.

I honestly don't bother to vaccinate my dogs against kennel cough except when I'm boarding them somewhere and the place requires it. All my dogs are healthy and able to fight off kennel cough, should they actually contract it. They've been exposed to it often and never gotten sick.
