Default Karma? Why do bad people get everything?

I've worked all my life and tried my best to be morally good. I don't steal, I don't lie, I don't cheat on my taxes, nor do I scam people.....yet I have hardly anything and literally struggle to put food on the table.

My Mom has done nothing but steal and scam her entire life. She ripped off her terminally ill mother, she wrote over 25,000 dollars in bad and stolen checks all over southern West Virginia, and does nothing but sits and plots ways to rip people off. She owes Avon over 1,000 dollars right now for example. None of these offenses have gone back on her. She's never gone to jail. She had my grandmothers car impounded because she loaned it to some drug dealers for some crack and the car was discovered with crack in it. A very nice new car, given right back to her because of a mishap in paperwork by the policemen. I drive a 500 dollar car with over 200,000 miles on it.....this does not seem %#@&#! fair!

Recently her husband, Ex-husband, boyfriend, thing was approved for his disability and will receive a very large sum of money for all the back pay......it will all go to drugs. Why do I have nothing, why don't I get lucky, why don't I ever get anything......this is not %#@&#! fair, I'm sick of this %#@&#!. I'm tired of sitting aside suffering while the bad people have it easy.

My sister was married off to a military man practically arranged by my Mom, so she wouldn't lose custody of her son. He gives her everything, she has everything...I mean everything....yet she screws some nasty boy who works at McDonalds. He forgave her and continues to care for her!!!...

Nothing I seem to do is paying off and never will.

have you read about karma? thats not really what karma does. its not necessarily pay back in this life. karma also deals a lot with reincarnation. so something you do bad now, could hurt you in a hundred years as someone else. also, the karma you receieve is often tied to what you did. if you steal money from someone, your karma might be someone stealing from you.

and, intentions are the biggest part. have you heard the saying the road to hell is paved with good intentions? well if youre doing something that, on the outside, is perceived as good but youre doing it for selfish reasons then its still bad. the intentions are what really matter in karma.

i.e. if you hurt someone but had no intention of doing so and were honestly trying to help, why should you be punished for that? get it?

also, you never know what goes on behind closed doors. you never know, that person getting everything may be the most depressed person you know. and how is that happiness? when i compare myself to people who have stuff i feel bad. when i compare myself to people based on mentality and emotions, i feel excellent. you need to go deeper than material things to see where karma is playing its role.

YouOme....I was the unfortunate victim of a scam artist who stalked me shortly after I divorced. He was on disability also, and he and his mother used it for gambling and drugs. I actually went onto the Social Security website and reported him. This resulted, I believe, in the removal of his benefits. All I know for sure is that his parole officer said he was madly "shopping for doctors" afterward.
People like this should not receive disability, and I encourage you to report them. Reporting is anonymous and your name will not be mentioned.

Maybe you could pull together all the information you have on your Mother & take it to the police. I have been scammed several times...once by the home care person that manipulated her way into caring for my Mother when she was dying of cancer & just last week when my ID information was stolen at the Motel I was staying at & then when the guy broke into my truck at the motel early that morning.

The gottcha is that I am very sure who did it....everything points there & they will get theirs one way of another because I have name & address & phone # thanks to some very cooperative businesses & a detective that is working with me. If is was just the ID theft, I wouldn't be involved in what is going on, but my flute & jewelry box were innocent bystanders in the bag that was stollen & for them, I am digging to provide all the information I can get on them.

You might be able to provide the police with some very necessary information on your Mother.

I don't think it's a matter of why bad people get everything because they do have to live with themselves knowing what they are doing (even if they don't have a conscience) they will be gotten even with sometime down the line in the future (karma or whatever one wants to call it). That I truely believe.

I would rather be able to live with myself & be happy with who I am even if I have to struggle getting enough money to get by. Being happy with myself is the most important thing in my life & knowing that I am doing what is right in Gods sight is what I base my life on.

Sad part about the theft from my truck last week is that is really looks like the motel clerk stole my information to help out the lady by purchasing kids shoes & paying her water bill that was not paid since Aug 2 & was to be turned off. It looks like he was trying to do good with the credit information he stole & the flute & jewelry were not planned....but he may think that he can get more money with that....I don't know how they will try to dispose of that...or maybe throw it away so as not to get caught with it.

Sad when possibly good people feel they can only turn to bad to get something they need to get help that is so needed.

We need to work on stopping the bad people because if they continue getting away with it, it just reinforces the bad behavior....that is why it's important to take the bad seriously & try our best to stop it where we can & fight back against it rather than shutting our eyes to it.

Debbie

All I can say is congratulations on surviving life with such an evil person in it. I think that's all you can do - thank God that you don't have to be dependent on her.

Last night on Seinfeld, Jerry told George, "The best revenge is to live well." George said, "Yeah...that's isn't going to happen."

It was funny, but reminds me that life isn't fair.

youOme,

Bless your heart. I say this because I remember living with parents who cared little if anything for me. Mother, after having promised to pay for my housing at Purdue, didn't pay a dime. It wasn't until I went to sign up for classes at an Indiana University satellite location that I found out that my records were encumbered for $1500 (showing my age). My father actually co-signed a loan (a feat in itself) so that I could start school part-time while I worked full time. I had $7/week left over for gas to put into my car and entertainment.

I can certainly understand how you feel. As far as Karma, there are varying thoughts about it. Today, many believe that Karma doesn't wait until a future life for karmic payback. Many schools of thought believe that karmic payback comes back to us in this lifetime and at a multiplication of 10x to 100x or more depending.

It seems to me that you are the one that is the true winner. You are walking the straight and narrow, just like I did and can say that all turned out well for me. I just kept focused on what I wanted and worked until I got it. I ate Campbell's Soups and the other "cheap" food as I had no money to buy better and was scraping.

I know I can not guarantee that this will be your story, but I hope that it will.

Feel free to PM me to vent, chat, or whatever. I am a good listener and am all ears. Then too, everyone needs a shoulder to lean on at times, I offer mine to you.

Thinking of You,
Peacemaker

ah, a Hoosier, I'm originally from Indiana myself.

I believe one day my suffering will turn over a new league and I will one day live better thanks to suffering. At the moment when I was posting this I was very angry and envious that my Mothers life was bound to get easier and mine was bound to continue to be tough. I guess this is life...this is how it is supposed to be, unfair. I just have to accept this and do the best with what I do have. I've been thinking with this attitude for the last couple days...it's been better.

I appreciate your support and understanding.

I have watched this happen with people in my past. It may seem to you that they have everything, it may seem like they luck out. But they really do not. Would you rather have things and be known as a liar and a thief! That is no way to live. You work hard yes, and you do not have much, but you can have respect for the person you are. You do not have to look over your shoulder afraid that the police are coming for you. No one hides their things for fear that you will steal them. One day Karma will come back to those that cheat and lie and steal. And if you never see it happen, that is okay. You can be proud of the person you are! I think that is worth more then your mom will ever have.
You say your sister has everything! I guess not since she wanted a scum bag from McDonalds. She will mess up the relationship with her husband! And it makes me wonder about the man she married, since your mom helped them get together.
Be proud of who you are, I am

I agree with Doh -- congratulations on surviving your family.

I also agree with Curley -- living without guilt and fear is its own reward. It may seem as if these people have everything and get away with everything, but really, what do they have? Stuff! Perhaps they are not introspective enough to look within, but I tend to believe that somewhere deep inside, they feel yukky and know they are yukky. That's why they need all the stuff -- in a desperate attempt to make themselves feel better.

Because they know that people like YOU are better-- and do not need the mere stuff to prove it.
