Default Sinus - Weird Noise

I have been having a lot of sinus / allergy problems with in the last year and now I have started to get these weird sounds coming from my sinus cavities when I breath and it is driving me crazy as it is hard to sleep (or go to sleep) when you have strange sounds going off in your head.

I thought I was loosing it "again" when I first started hearing these sounds - lol.

The sounds are a combination of pop rocks getting wet and some kind of white noise.... sorry, but that is the best way I can describe what is going on.

Can any one relate?

I've never heard of this...I would go to the doctor and explain if I were you...It sounds annoying to deal with.

Yeah - I see the doctor in about two weeks for my 6 month check up - I will talk to her about it then.

I have checked online and it seems as though this a problem that some people have with their sinuses due to the cavities are filled with air - but I was wondering if any one here on PC ever dealt with it.

I get "whistling" at night from my through/sinuses that drives me batty so I can't sleep. A kind of whistle crunch sort of thing. I have to clear my throat and nose, etc. but that only fixes it for a short while. If you've got congestion of any sort, it's bound to be hard getting air through there? LOL and it's going to be so only the inside of your head hears. Have you tried lying on your back to see if that helps (that helps my interior sounds; one gets all the outside, night sounds too instead of lying on one's ear and just getting inside sounds).

I have tried sleeping on my back when I first go to bed and it helps a little as I only hear the whistle (from time to time) when I am on my back...... but as I am a side/belly sleeper - I tend to change positions in the middle of the night with out knowing it and then those darn "inside sounds" wake me up...... Grrrrrrr.

I have sinus meds and nasal spray - maybe I need to change my Rx when I see my doctor or add a second one?

Yeah, I wake and then my husband will be snoring and will keep me awake. I'm mostly deaf in one ear so can lay on my "good" ear and that helps with outside sounds but if I have nose or throat or some other sounds going, it's heck getting back to sleep. I can't sleep on my back either, mostly have to do my left side. My husband mostly does his right side so that can be unpleasant as we're face-to-face so any "sighs" or whatever sends his less-than-pleasant nighttime breath my way :-) He has a special pillow for his right arm too so takes up 2/3rds of the bed and we're both large. He tried to explain to me the other night why he gets more than half the bed. . .

My husband has always had sinus problems and once real congestion sets in he too emits weird sounds from his ...... ear

He will blow his nose and his ear whistles, really loud too. You can here it from the other room. When we are out I tell him he needs to hit the bathroom to blow his nose. Less people to stare at him/us there.

He has had 4 sinus surgeries over the past 20 yrs. to have polyps removed. He also deals with severe asthma. Poor guy.

I hope you feel better soon.
