Default sorry for posting so much

sorry for posting so much, but this is the first time ever I have ever had a place that I could open up since no one knows anything is wrong.

I am starting to forget things but the worst is I feeling like I'm becoming dislexic. I type words wrong and totally different words that I meant to type. At work I proof everything 3 and 4 times but I am scared something will slip past me. I sent an email today at work to a customer but I put my work as the email extension and not theirs so it bounced back to me.

Everyone expects perfection from me it's mortifying to have a stupid thing like this slip past me.

Can depression cause this? I've written it down on my list to tell my new dr about

Dyslexia is not something you can suddenly develop, it is a developmental disorder you are born with. It is possible you are only noticing it now and have always had it, but if you are saying you've never had difficulty before then it's not dyslexia.
I hope your doc can help you figure out what's going on!

Thank you. I thought that it was something that you were born with but wasn't sure. It's probably a concentration issue and will definitely tell my dr about it

It's not possible to "become" dyslexic unless you get a brain injury of some kind. Otherwise it would have been from childhood, so don't worry about that.

Depression can definitely cause a lack of concentration, which is probably what is causing this for you. It can be really hard to fully engage in and concentrate on what you are doing when you're depressed (or anxious or both).

Exercising might be helpful if you have the motivation. Studies show that exercising a few times a week is as good as a low dose of SSRI for helping depression and it will likely help your concentration as well (apologies if I'm telling you something you already know).

And I don't think you have to worry about posting too much either. Nobody is forced to read all of you posts and active forums are always better than inactive ones anyways!!

Thank you

Right now exercising is out of the question until I get the leg issue resolved but yes I have read that it does help. I used to walk and hike and I really miss that so I hope I can eventually get back to it someday

Depression can definitely cause this. It has a huge impact on our ability to concentrate.

I have had to type alot for years and I type a lot on here. I have noticed all my typo's are with certain words...if, and, but, is, it, did, had, have, things like that. I have to proof all my posts. Of course all of us make typos's that is normal. This seems different though. I don't know if it is just getting older or if some weird cognitive thing is going on. Meds can cause some weird cognitive issues. Whatever the cause I just have to reread it and correct it just like you should always do anyway.

Maybe proofing three and four times is just over worrying about it. Memory goes down with age and depression definitely messes up memory and concentration. Good idea to write it down and tell your doc. Try to write down exactly how you make the mistakes like if it is something weird or just normal lack of concentration. Mine seems kind of weird because they are the same types of words. I think I will follow your advice and write down what is going on and talk to my doc about it.
