Default Can you split seroquel?

So i need to go on this, i was on it before, and went off and am on Lactimal now, but am experiencing psychosis, they've prescribed me it in 300mg tablets, i dont know about taking so much, can i cut it in half or is it dangerous?

Also have any of you ever taken citalopram and what happened? I feel like taking it because i need mania now, i dont want to go down.

Heart Re: Can you split seroquel?

If it's regular Seroquel you can cut it in half. It it's Seoquel XR you cannot because it's timed released.

Seroquel can be split. My husband regularly splits his. He has discovered though that taking it in smaller doses actually causes him more sedation than if he just goes ahead and takes the higher dose. Seroquel xr cannot be split without messing up the extended release aspect of it.

No its not XR, i'm so unsure about this medication.
I'm sure being so anxious about the med itself really defies the whole point in taking it.

I wouldn't do anything without talking to your pdoc. Changing meds on your own is not worth it. It may cause you to become worse.

I've taken citalopram. It made me cycle rapidly with severe episodes. I would not recommend taking it given the psychosis you are already having. Also I have cut my seroquel up with pdoc's permission tho. If it seems to high talk to your pdoc about a lower dose.

Citalopram was the first anti depressant I was prescribed, long before I was diagnosed with bi polar and it made me manic and very aggressive and violent, so much so that I nearly stabbed my brother just because he had taped over something!! I agree that you should talk to ur pdoc about any med change. Good luck

Actually, you can cut some pills in half. I do that with Wellbutrin extended release and my pdoc looked to see if it was placebo or real and there is scientific evidence it will work if you cut it. I actually cut it in quarters, because any more than that and I am manic.

It sounds to me like you need to talk to your pdoc before you make any moves. I did mine after talking to my pdoc. If you are new at this game, an AD like Celexa (Citalopram) is probably the worst thing you can do for yourself. It will keep you awake and you will go psychotic.

If you are not having a good time with the Seroquel, go back and try something different as there are many drugs available. And hugs and good luck.
