Question Anyone take Seroquel to sleep?

I am finding that the longer I am on it, the more morning tiredness I have. I have trouble getting up in the morning, and it takes forever to get going. I am not depressed right now, just tired. I am on the lowest dose. Any ideas?

Had the same problem. I grew to hate Seroquel because although it quelled my invasive thoughts/verbal hallucinations, it sucked away my will to live (even on the lowest dose) because it got so concentrated after days of 50-75mg. I was on 25mg for a couple of weeks before i quit it altogether because I felt miserable, was sleeping all the time, and just didn't feel like doing anything. That was my reaction, but yours may be different.

Wish I had better luck with it...and you too.

It's still worlds better than what I was going through a few weeks ago. If it is the tradeoff for stability, I'll stay on it. I don't mind sleeping more if it means I get to stay stable.

Does it concentrate in the blood after a few weeks or does it wear off each day?

I just take 25mg.

I was on Seroquel several years ago and came off....I have had to restart since March. The Pdoc started me out at 300 mg since in the past I ended up on 800 mg...boy did I find out my body had changed !! 300 mg was too much this go around so we tried 200 down to 100 mg. Like most other drugs, after awhile the body does get sorta immune to the effects and the side effects aren't as drastic. My Pdoc now tells me to use a "sliding scale" of Seroquel to meet my needs....when I'm most manic, I find the 200 mg is what I need to get some sleep...when not as manic, the 100 mg works well enough. For me, after several month, I found the morning "hangover" lessened with consistant use of Seroquel and not skipping nights.

Hope this helps and good luck to you.

I found seroguel worked great on anxiety, anger and invasive thought you know general manicy stuff. but being a zombie and 16-20 hrs of sleep a day wasn't worth it to me. i thought if that's was what i had to take to be stable, life as i knew it was over and i would be on disability. hard pill to swallow when I've bin self employed 80 percent of my life. but for realllly missing hypo mania lamictal has bin a god send for me. not perfect but vastly more livable.
talk to pdoc about next stop on med train don't give up.

I took Seroquel for quite a while actually. I started on it almost 2 years ago at this point and was taking 50mg but I was like snowed. We decreased to 25mg and it wasn't much better so I stopped. Then last July (2008) I was in the hospital and didn't sleep for 4 days and they actually restarted he Seroquel at 12.5mg which worked like a charm. After a few months I increased it to 25mg, then increased it to 50mg and I wasn't having the morning hang over at all. It was really a great drug for me. I stopped because my pdoc started me on Lithium and thought I'd be fine without it.... that being said, I haven't slept well for like 5 months now since I started the Lithium!!! Maybe stepping back on the dose would be helpful for you. It's not a scored tablet so it's hard to break the little 25mg tab in half but my inpatient pdoc felt like if half works then great. Good luck!!

I'm so tired and sleepless lately that I think I might be willing to try a half dose of seroquel again. I have so many pills right now it's hard to keep track of them! I used to have 1 am and 1 pm. Now I have 5 going on, 2 in am and 3 in pm but all at different times. Argh.

I was on 75 mg and I was only on it because it helped me sleep. Nothing less or more helped me sleep but 75mg was perfect. The only problem was that if I didn't sleep for 10 hours I would be a zombie the next day. But I never had as good sleep until seroquel.

I'm actually hoping to get put back on it, and lithium when I see my new pdoc. I hope your sleeping and time awake gets better!

I read that the pill shouldn't be broken because it releases too much of the drug at once. Does it come in 12.5? Maybe that would work?

If it did have a 12.5mg I'd try it again. Probably my p-doc wishes I was willing to try it since Abilify increases my mania/insomnia and Risperidone is so far making me fidgety and restless and sore at night (or maybe something else is causing that, not sure).
