Hey all, I have suffered from depressive episodes for more than half of my life. This year I was hospitalized twice for severe depression. I went to my support group and it was suggested that maybe I should try a full spectrum light. Has anyone tried it? Was it successful? I know everyone is different so I know I will have to try to find out for myself...gonna talk to Pdoc tuesday when I see him.

Anyway thanks for any replies...

I've never tried it but I've read from many sources through the years that it can help with some types of depression. I do know they definitely use it for S.A.D. Do you feel a seasonal shift in mood? It can be in the summer months and subside in the winter months as well. Please post how it works and how you feel.

Hello, MELISSSAD81! I used a special "light box" for several months with no appreciable effect. Nevertheless, I understand full-spectrum lighting does help a certain percentage of people.

Hi, Doctor I had a few years back suggested I use one also. The full spectrum light's are not cheap so I didn't purchase one. I do think it would of help me though, I was lucky enough to live where there was some sun in the winter so on nice days I would bundle up and just sit outside and let the sun hit my face for 20 minutes, that did help! Your Dr. may know of someplace to purchase one less expensive ask him, I would. Because just any old light will not work. I wish you well.
