Default Anyone else hate when people try to make small talk?

I find myself being silent and nodding with a false smile, praying to god they don't ask a question. Then I hate to answer and my fake smile is burning my face and my thoughts are telling me to escape but my feet won't move. Then finally silence a way to escape.

One of the reasons I don't leave the house. I should wear a sign that says don't talk to me.

It used to bother me more, before I had kids, than it does now. Sometimes, the most unexpected people, just open right up to me, whether i have my kids with me or not. I embrace, it now, as lonely souls, just needing a smile and a little human connection.

I wouldn't say I hate it. But it can be uncomfortable. I'm not very good at it.

Not really if it's done well. Pretty much every conversation/dialogue begins with small talk. It's just a tool... a gambit to see if anything better results from it.

yeah when people on the bus or trolley try to make smalltalk, I start to think they're mentally unstable LOL. I know that small talk is the most normal thing in the world, but I'm not that good at it. I still think it is the way that us humans should be: nice to each other, conversing, showing one another loving compassion.

I get irritated about it. In a perfect world, I could go out and do my business and no one would bother me with small talk, but I live in a small community and everyone is up in everyone's business. People not only ask questions, they ask personal and intrusive questions. I believe that they don't realize that they are being rude. Larger metropolitan area people tend to mind their own business for the most part. Talking about the weather is fine but asking me what my beliefs are, where I grew up, why I didn't have the conventional upbringing is pushing it. I understand that they are curious but a little consideration would also be nice. A lot of times, when in town, I encounter someone who might initially intend to make small talk and ask questions but it ends up feeling like an interrogation.

I don't know how to small talk. Usually just end up with one word answers like yea and an awkward smile or just completely freeze and can't say anything at all. Then the person gives me the weird look then it's all uncomfortable and I feel silly.
