Default Ms. Crystal Meth

I was addicted to meth for 5 years. I have been sober for 8. I came across these poems because my town as small as it is, has been taken over by meth. Everyday, you hear of a meth lab being busted and more often than not there are kids involved. So our newspaper published these poems to show the struggle one goes through while addicted aqnd even after you recover, you will always struggle. These poems were published for the intent of keeping people from picking it up the first time and keeping people like me from picking it up again. The first one was published about 5 years ago when I had my relapse and hung on my in-laws fridge and I saw it everyday and it still keeps me sober. Here it is:

Ms. Crystal Meth
I destroy homes. I tear families apart. I take your children and that's just the start.
I'm more valued than diamonds more precious than gold.
The sorrow I bring is a sight to behold.
If you need me, remember I'm easily found.
I live all around you,in scool and in town.
I live with the rich and I live with the poor.
I live down the street and mabye next door.
I'm made in a lab, but not one like you think,
I can be made under your kitchen sink
In your child's closet and even out in the woods.
If this scares you to death then it certainly should
I have many names but the one you know the best
I'm sure you've heard of me my names Crystal Meth
My power is awesome, try me you'll see
But if you do you may never break free
Just try me once I might let you go but try me twice and I'll own your soul
When i possess you you'll steal and you'll lie
You'll do what you have to just ot get high
You'll steal from your mother, you'l steal from your dad
When you see their tears you must feel sad
Just forget your morals and how you were raised, I'll be your conscience I'll teach you MY ways
I take kids from their parents, parents from their kids
I turn people from God I seperate friends
I'll take everything from you your looks and your pride
I'll always be with you right by your side
You'll give up everything your family your home your money your friends, then you'll be all alone
I'll take and I'll take till you have no more to give
When I'll finish with you your lucky to live.
If you try me, be warned
THIS IS NOT A GAME,. If I'm given the chance I'll drive you insane
I'll ravage your body, I'll control your mind. I'll own you completly Your soul will be mine. The nightmares I'll give you when your lying in bed,
And te voices you'll hear from inside your head
The shakes, the sweats the visions you'll see
I want you to know these things are your gift from me
By then it's too late, and you'll know in your heart
That you are mine now and we'll never part
You'll regret that you tried me (they always do).
But you came to ME not me to YOU
You knew this would happen many times you were told!
But you challenged my power. You chose to be bold
You could have said "NO" and then walked away,
If you could live that day over, now what would you say?
My power is awesome as I said before
I can take your mother and make her a whore.
I'll be your master you'll be my slve
I'll even go with you when you go to your grave
Now that you met me what will you do?
Will you try me or not, it's all up to you
I can show you more misery than words can tell
Come take my hand let me lead you to Hell-

Oh WOW This is just EXACTLY what I was needing today. It is so very true. When I was first trying to get clean off of it I had found a support site that said something like meth is the devil or something like that. I have it bookmarked on my home computer but not here at work and anyway it was a very good site for me at the time. I got clean off it after using lots for a long time and I have been clean about 2 months now. I decided not to keep up with the exact days that way i don't think about it at all. When I was first getting off I'd be like ok i haven't used in 3 days I can do it and know i can quit then i'd go on a week binge. it was like i was giving myself a free pass to use occassionally if i could take a break for like a week then it's ok to use a little bit. so now i just know that it's been a while. i'm digging myself out of a big financial hole that was caused by this drug and it's so hard. it's going to take years to repair my credit (that was spotless before) this. i basically quit paying all my bills while i was using for several months, maybe close to a year. now i still get calls every day from numerous bill collectors and i just have to try to make some kind of arrangement with them to try and work this out. i'm so thankful that i got off it. i was one of few that have been able to walk away but it still definitely left scars. i almost lost everything i worked my whole life for because of this drug. and i didn't even care. this drug is evil. and i thank you so much for posting this poem because i just posted last week about how i had been thinking about it and having cravings. i did good and didn't even try to get any and i managed to get by this time. but i'm going to print this poem out and keep on my desk and in my purse for backup when the urge comes again. thank you again!

This poem made me cry so much. I haven't felt very much in a while. My husband was addicted to meth for about 6-7 years. He's now in jail because of it, for burglary. He had just started taking it with a needle. He was very high at the time of the burglary, and then he pawned what he and his friends stole in his name. Being with him when he was addicted was somewhat traumatizing and I think it was a lot harder to deal with than him being in jail, because I was so afraid that every night would be the last night I would talk to him. Not only is the drug dangerous, but so are the dealers, the cooks, the other people that are addicted to it. I had people coming to the door asking for my husband, because they wanted to kill him. Or maybe not...He was quite paranoid. He was always saying things that made me afraid for his life. But still that is what I thought and that's what he thought, so it was very scary. My husband overdosed at least 5 times from it. And almost had his arm removed from cotton fever. I really hate being away from him. I really need him right now and always. But at the same time. I'm so thankful he went back to jail (he was out on parole for the burglary for almost two years). I'm thankful because if he hadn't, he would have died. There was no other way for him to quit. Thankfully, he was here for two months in a half-way house and was able to get me out of a terribly traumatic situation, but he went back to jail yet again. So quickly too, because he had started doing meth again. But then he went back, and I when I told him I was pregnant, he said he'd never do it again. I really hope so.
